Our Dream

​

We have been dreaming of creating a place that we can share. A place of quiet, calm, restoration, and play. A place away from the rat race that can be life. Sinking back into a time when life was a little bit simpler has been top of mind for us for a long while. After spending most of our careers commuting through the crazed traffic in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area, we stepped back during the pandemic and asked ourselves what kind of life we really wanted. 

 

Community. Connection. Belonging.

In October 2021, the stars aligned and we found ourselves on Wilderness Drive standing amongst the tall pine full of gratitude for how everything worked in our favor. We began to visualize the key ingredients: Nature in all her glory – a bit of land, water, and room enough for our intergenerational living dreams.

 

What was waiting for us was more than what we could have envisioned. It’s quite a project! And we are up for it.

Land

From regenerating and restoring the land to bringing life back to the buildings that were once a passion project will help us to leave this little corner of the world to be better off for our care. Envisioning a mutually-beneficial relationship with the land, it will live on for generations yet to come. We care for the land, and the land provides for us. Fruit trees will eventually provide bounty in the fall, healing gardens will be filled with herbs, vegetables, and flowers for both the people and the animals on the property. Everything we do with the land will be in the spirit of contribution, collaboration, and conservation.

Cottage

A stay at True Nature Cottage will provide guests the opportunity to be. Be still. Be quiet. Be who they truly are. This little Cottage will be perfect for a small group or an individual looking for a hermitage-style getaway. Andrea has a deep desire to provide a healing experience for someone seeking a solo retreat for anyone needing a soft place to land. We envision guests taking their morning cup of coffee either back behind the Cottage into the woods or to stroll down the approximately .25-mile path to the river.

 

Riverside Campsites

We see so much potential for this part of the property. We’ll quickly carve out several private nooks and crannies for guests to experience the soothing slow current bumble its way downstream. The trail down to the water’s edge will be cleaned up, steps put in toward the water’s edge, and eventually a dock jut out into the water. A semi-permanent wall tent or two will allow those who don’t wish to drag their camping gear around, and a few open areas for tenting and/or an RV to park. We’ll have the fanciest porta potty you’ve ever seen!

 

Creative Wellness Shed

There is no other word for this building yet, and we are reserving it because we know that it will be a special place of learning and growing. With a fully functioning kitchen and the longest darn table we’ve seen, this space will be perfect for hosting classes and workshops and healing retreats. It needs work! So, we will be patient.

Boutique

We have yet to hear the full story of the oldest and first building that was built on this property, but it too needs a bit of work! The vision for this building is to create a small boutique to sell our creations from the Etsy shop.

 

To bring this little property back to life will take time, patience, and love.
